I got a surprise!!!!

Before I get into the real purpose of this post, I want to thank all of you for your comments on my "Up for a challenge" post. I was very hesitant to post that, but God has so burdened my heart in this area I had to. I LOVED reading all of your responses. One of my favorites was Jackie's. She and her husband leave the t.v. off on the weekend as long as their sweet little girl is awake. This helps to promote family time. I LOVED that idea. (Although, it's Football time in Tennessee and since we are on the foreign mission field here in the backyard of Athens, GA, my man isn't going to turn off t.v. until after the SEC Championship Game!!!!) Anyway, thanks for encouraging me!! I love you!!

About 6 weeks or so ago, my real life friend and blog siesta Carol at Sheep to the Right, hosted a be kind challenge. I participated some, and posted a little about it. It was fun for the girls and I to find ways to be kind to others. It sure was nice to see others smile, and look a little surprised. :) Little did I know that I would soon be the surprised one.

From the time Beth Moore and Living Proof Ministries announced Siesta Fiesta I've wanted to go. I just really felt like it was way too much to ask of Chad right now. When I finally said something about it he said "So, make plans and go." I kept saying no, we can't afford this.... but he was insistent that I should go. In fact we were driving home from church one Sunday two weeks ago and the subject came up. He said "You know, if you feel like it's something you should go to, just make the plans and God will work out the rest..." So I agreed.

The next day as I was fixing dinner and finishing up some little chores around the house I received an e-mail. This e-mail brought tears to my eyes and sent me to my knees. I still get emotional thinking about it.

A blog siesta had bought a ticket to this conference and was now unable to attend. She felt led to give that ticket to me if I wanted it. Can you believe that!!!! I read the whole thing again, very slowly. I wanted to digest every precious word. What a surprise. I had just committed the day before to go. I was prepared to start putting a budget together and planning. Then God used this siesta, whom I've never met in person, to complete the first thing on the list!!

So --- I'm going to San Antonio for Siesta Fiesta next August!!!!!!!! I sure hope I get to meet all of you there!! I want so bad to look into your eyes and hear your voice. I'm pumped about seeing Beth Moore "LIVE AND IN COLOR", and then there is Travis Cottrell.... but you dear Siesta's are the icing on this big ole cake!!!!

By the way, Carol, Amy and any others in the Atlanta area who might like to go...I would love to have some travel buddies!!! This is one fiesta that you don't want to miss!!!

To that precious Siesta who extended that kindness to me.. THANK YOU!!!!! I know you "get" how big this is to me!!! Thank you for being sensitive to our Father and His prompting. I can't wait to post pictures and chat all about it. :)

Hi Stephanie! I found your blog by way of the LPM blog, as well as reading your sweet comments on other blogs I like to read. I must confess that I have been reading your blog for a while, but never left a comment before. I recently started by own blog (although I haven't been very good at keeping it up), so I don't have to be a lurker any longer! You have such a precious family and precious heart for God. I especially loved your last post on the challenge. I have felt convicted for some time about where I choose to invest my time (especially in the evenings after the kids are in bed), and I appreciated the verses that you shared. I'm writing them down next to our T.V., and praying to make better choices as I really enjoy just relaxing at night and for some reason for me that always involves the T.V.
I also was interested in hearing about your homeschool experience, if you don't mind sharing. It is something that I've prayed about through the years and just haven't gotten clear confirmation yet, but I always love to hear the pros and cons from other families who are doing it.
Finally, that is such a fun surprise the way God used a blogging siesta to provide you a ticket to the fiesta. I love when He suprises us so unexpectedly and how fun for your friend to be used by Him. I'm praying about going myself, but don't know anyone personally who is going and still need to figure out hotel arrangements as I can't see just showing up all by myself. Just maybe I'll see you there!
O.K., I've taken up enough space :)

Glad to hear about the surprise!!! I would absolutely love to go to San Antonio is August, but fear it's too expensive. I really don't have anyone to go with and wouldn't be able to afford the plane ticket. But I rejoice in your being able to go. I am sure it will be too fun to imagine!!!!

Congrats to you!! I hope that we can meet up in San Antonio, if not before. Isn't it so cool how God works? You have been blessed so that you can be a blessing to someone in S.A. I believe.

Have a great week.

Hey-I may want a room buddy if I get to go. I am still in the prayer stages-maybe we can fly together. If the budget works out and all. Praying God will work it out if I am to go.

Love you,
Angela
PS-I am so excited how God has blessed you with that. He just blows me away.

Hi Sweet Stephanie,

It's been TOO LONG since I've had time to visit your blog...but tonight the Lord provided the time and it was almost as good as sharing a cup of java with you!!! I sure do miss you!

As always, I'm blessed by your posts--your "realness" with us and the sweetness of your spirit!

Kisses to the girls!

We leave the T.V. off all afternoon when my daughter gets home and only watch one half hour of T.V. Unless it is a family movie night.

Stephanie, I've been a little behind in blog reading so I'll have to go back and read the challenge post, but even without knowing the history, this surprise is totally awesome! Don't you love how He works in the details? So cool! You will have an awesome time. I may just have to take you up on the whole "travel buddy" suggestion! :)
