When It's Quiet (memory verse challenge #3)

It's quiet around here right now.

Chad has taken advantage of the beautiful day and hit the park for a run. The girls are riding bikes, and playing basketball with their friends down the street. It's me and the dog. (Who is whimpering like crazy because he catches a glimpse of the girls on their bikes every few minutes.)

It is so quiet and today I do not like it. Too many thoughts running through my head. Too many concerns, and for me concerns easily turn to worry if I'm not careful.

It all started when I looked at my calender this morning. January was full. All good things, but F.U.L.L. We are one day away from February and each weekend is already full. When did that happen?!?!?! Don't get me wrong, we have some fun stuff planned, and we are really looking forward to the company we are expecting, but my goodness the month is going to fly by!

So here I sit in this quiet, a little overwhelmed, already feeling some stress and I hear Him. He's whispering my favorite verse of all time. It will be my next LPM Memory verse challenge verse because I need to spend the next two weeks meditating on it.

It's Deuteronomy 33:12

"Let the beloved of the LORD rest secure in him, for he shields him all day long, and the one the LORD loves rest between his shoulders."

Between His shoulders. Is there any better place?

If it's okay...I am going to "steal" this and use it for my next memory verse, too. I need it and I love it!
Praying for you! Thanks, Steph!

Love that verse. I'll have to remember it for later. Isn't it frightening how quickly the calendar fills up? I hope you had a wonderful restful day!!

Love that one!
I enjoyed the trip last weekend. My car is a wonderful place for praise and worship. The traveling miles were a blessing as I drove to Kennesaw and Woodstock. It was so nice meeting you and the rest of the siestas.
I liked how Travis started the night with the screen messages about being quiet in His presence. Resting in Him. Before that weekend, preparing to come, I was feeling Habakkuk 2:20. I am so glad I went. The laughing was fun, but the stillness of worship in my soul was the precious memory of that night.
Love you.

Perfect verse. Perfect! Quiet's ok, so long as it causes us to be still and know that He is God - and in control. :)

I saw that verse on your pictures from the Southern Siesta gathering. That is a promise that I have felt I have needed to claim as I have faced some insecurity square in the face recently. It's my verse for these next two weeks as well.

Donna over at Waymorehomemade just posted this same verse. I just left a comment for her that I love the "resting between His shoulders" part, because it reminds me of when my girls were young. My husband would carry them in one of those backpack contraptions and they would inevitably fall asleep back there, their heads resting securely between his shoulders. I love the memory and the picture it paints for me and God.

Hugs to you, friend,
Melinda
